Plans submitted to transform pub
PLANS to transform a South Kirkby pub into a convenience store have been submitted to Wakefield Council.
Proposals to change the Old Crown Inn, on Barnsley Road, into a store were submitted at the beginning of the last month and validated by council bosses last week.
The pub, which has been vacant for more than a year, would be transformed throughout.
And the applicant is also seeking permission to transform the upper floors into residential flats.
There would be two one-bedroom and two, two-bedroom flats above the proposed store.
In a design and access statement submitted to the council, the developers said that the proposals will make efficient use of an existing building providing a service to the local community.
And the statement added that the proposal would be a modest and discrete modification which sits comfortably in its context and has no detrimental impact on local character.
The public have until October 25 to submit their views on the application.
