Parking outside schools costs children’s lives

PARENTS and carers are being urged to think carefully about where they park when they are on the school run.

Officers from the South East neighbourhood policing team (NPT) have launched a campaign to prevent people from parking illegally outside schools.

The Express reported last month teachers and parents fears over proposed changes to the crossing at Kinsley Primary School, on Wakefield Road.

And police have now launched a campaign at Upton Primary School, on Waggon Lane.

Posters have been put up outside the school which say ‘Parking here could cost a child’s life’ after cars were parked illegally outside the school.

Insp Geoff Carter, of the NPT, said: “Parking outside schools puts children’s lives in danger.

“We will be taking positive action against anyone found to be committing this offence.”
