Park gets accredited
ANGLERS Country Park has been officially accredited as a country park by Natural England.
The Country Parks Accreditation Scheme recognises sites that deliver the core facilities and services expected of country parks. The Wintersett park is the first in Wakefield, and the second in West Yorkshire, to get accreditation.
Coun Maureen Cummings, cabinet member for environment and communities, said: “This is fantastic recognition for Anglers Country Park.
“Anglers Country Park is a local nature reserve which is carefully managed to conserve and improve its habitats for the benefit of wildlife and for everyone to enjoy. There is always something different to see as the wildlife changes with the seasons.
“Waterton Countryside Discovery Centre at the park has also been officially accredited. Families are invited to come along to the centre and have some fun during the half term break with crafts activities and games.”
