The Met Office has warned up to 15cm of snow could fall by tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

It upgraded its severe weather warning to amber for West Yorkshire and said the snow would continue until Saturday night.

Temperatures are expected to drop to -2°C on Sunday and cold conditions will remain well into next week.

The Met Office said: “The public should be aware of the potential for severe disruption to transport and to power supplies.”

Today’s heavy snow has already caused disruption to schools and transport.
