Mathlete Tellin is a golden girl
Tellin Ndungu a student at Kinsley Primary school has achieved a gold medal in the online Maths challenge called Mathletics
AN 11-year-old girl has become the first pupil at her school to win a gold medal in an online maths challenge.
Year six student Tellin NDungu achieved a gold medal in Mathletics, an internet programme which promotes independent learning to all pupils at Kinsley Primary School.
Headteacher Paul Birdsall said: “We are very proud of her.
“She was exceptionally dedicated and put a lot of effort in and a lot of hours on the online programme.”
Tellin accomplished the gold award in Mathletics on December 31, after just three months of using the programme, which she had access to at school and at home.
Mr Birdsall said this showed Tellin’s “determination, diligence and willingness to learn”.
Mr Birdsall said: “She really pushed herself and showed the other children the way forward. I fully expect that if she continues the way she is now, she will achieve great things.”
To achieve a gold medal in Mathletics, a child must get several bronze and silver medals first.
