Market stallholder all set for success
Juanita Austin from Just your Style at Castleford indoor Market
AN UNEMPLOYED 20-year-old has set up her own business thanks to a scheme designed to boost the district’s economy.
Juanita Austin, of South Kirkby, has started her own childrens’ clothing stall, Just Your Style, at Castleford Market
Miss Austin, of Clock Row Mount, said: “There were no jobs going so when I heard about this scheme I thought I would give it a try.
“My mum used to trade in children’s wear so I know about it and wanted to be like her – she is there to help me if anything goes wrong.”
Wakefield Council’s Business Start-up Scheme offers incentives and advice for budding entrepreneurs.
To help kick-start her business the council offered Miss Austin four weeks rent free trading, followed by four weeks half-price rent, and then four weeks with a 25 per cent discount.
She also gets free advice from council bosses.
Coun David Dagger, cabinet member with responsibility for markets, said: “It’s really good to see young entrepreneurs taking advantage of the start-up scheme.
“We are offering a generous free and discounted trading period which takes the pressure off new businesses during a time when they are buying stock and building their customer base.”
