We report on the dance group leader from Hemsworth who feared for her party's lives after they were struck down by Norwalk virus at a Scarborough Hotel.
Cynthia Marsden, 62, of Lowfield, was the one of 70 sequence dancers to suffer gastric illness as a result of the virus, which the hotel was aware was going round before they arrived. The hotel's owners were ordered to pay 85,000 in compensation to the group after solicitors took up the case.
The contenders for this year's Look of contest are printed in the paper and there is a review of Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz film Knight and Day.
In sport Frickley Athletic eased to two more friendly wins but they came at a cost, with midfielder Andy Catton sustaining an ankle injury and looking doubtful for the start of the season. And Hemsworth squash star Katie Smith has brought her superb season to a close by being picked to represent Pontefract Squash Club in September's European Club Championships.
All in this week's Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express.
