KETTLES were constantly on the boil as people raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The World’s Biggest Coffee morning saw hundreds of people across the Express area show their support for the charity which helps people with cancer and their families.
On Friday events were held at Barclays Banks in Hemsworth and South Elmsall, Hemsworth Park Care Centre, and here at the Express office, on Front Street, Pontefract.
Sheena Matthews, home manager at Hemsworth Park Care Centre, said: “We managed to raise £125 and it went very well.
“We did have one surprise visitor that was discharged from here about three years ago and he turned up unexpected. It was a really nice surprise for everyone.”
Macmillan offers support to those affected by cancer and provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support.
Maria Amos, fundraising manager for Wakefield and district at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “The coffee morning is massive for us. It’s our flagship event and we absolutely could not do what we do without the support.
“Registrations have gone through the ceiling and it scares me to think what the overall total will be.”
