Hemsworth school faced with £10,000 flood bill after vandal attack

VANDALS have caused a Hemsworth school more than £10,000 after they stole piping from the building, triggering a massive flood.

Water from the burst pipe swept into St Helen's J&I School's hall, parents' room and shower block after the theft last weekend.

The school was forced to close on Monday following the disaster, which ruined first-aid dummies worth 3,500 and precious costumes used for performances and plays.

The ceiling in the parents' room, which is used for meetings at the Highfield Road school, caved in due to water damage. And flooring in the school hall was also wrecked.

What do you think of the situation? Has your child been affected by the theft? Have your saying by leaving a comment in the space below.
