ABA BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Havercroft and Ryhill Sports & Youth Centre is hosting various senior ABA boxing championships on Sunday, April 18, commencing 1pm. There will be around 12 bouts. Entry fee is 10 payable at the door. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the event. For more details call the sports centre on 01226 723659.

VILLAGE GALA: The Ryhill and Havercroft annual Peace gala will take place on Saturday, July 17. There will be a free table top sale in the sports hall and on the outside patio area. Limited spaces are available on the inside and it will be on a first come first served basis. You are advised to provide your own tables. RYHILL HISTORY: Ryhill Parish Council are selling copies of "Ryhill in History" volumes 1 and 2 from both the St Paul's Methodist Church coffee morningsand Havercroft Skills Centre.

FOLK DANCE GROUP: The folk dancers continue to meet on Mondays between 1 and 3pm at St Paul's Methodist Church, Ryhill. The cost has now been reduced to 2 per session.

RYHILL ART SOCIETY: There will be an exhibition of the societ's work at Wakefield Cathedral from Monday to Saturday, April 19-24 (9am to 4pm every day except Saturday which is 9am to 2.30pm). The next meeting will be at 7pm on Wednesday, April 28, when Liz Harward will demonstrate in watercolour. The venue is St Paul's Church, Chapel Street, Ryhill. Admission is 3 and includes refreshments.

HEALTH WALKS: Why not join your local healthy walking group which meets every fortnight starting from Havercroft Community Learning Centre at 10.30am for an hour or so. The next walk is on Wednesday 21 April. Contact the centre on 01226 72782 for more information.

CHARITY SHOP: The charity shop at The Living Hope Church, Cow Lane, Havercroft is open 9am to noon on Monday and Tuesday mornings. A chance to enjoy a chat over a cuppa and pick up a bargain.

MULBERRY CLUB: Mulberry is a community sports multi-skills club for young people with physical and learning disabilities. The next session is on Monday, April 19. Times are 6pm–7pm for juniors and 7pm–8pm for seniors. Weekly subs 1.50.

ACTIVITY SESSIONS: Connect3 is a free programme which aims to help overweight children, aged 16 and under, to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Children will learn all about how they can have an active, fun life and feel happier about themselves. The programme helps families understand the importance of healthy food and how to cook simple, low cost and nutritious meals as well as how to manage their weight and easy ways to get active! All sessions take place at Havercroft and Ryhill Youth and Sports Centre on Mondays, 4pm–6pm. For more information about the programme, contact: Louise Edwards on 0783 3048 339

DROP IN: The Drop In for pre-school children and their carers is open at The Living Hope Church, Cow Lane, on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. There is no fixed charge but donations are accepted to cover the cost of providing refreshments. A chance for those looking after young ones to enjoy a chat and a cuppa and for the children to play together.
