Football target in sight

A FOOTBALL club in South Elmsall has moved a step nearer its fundraising goal to build a new changing room and function room at its ground.

Frickley Athletic, which is based on Westfield Lane, hopes to raise £50,000 to build the new facility at the ‘Town End’ of the ground.

The total now stands at £17,867 after almost £1,000 was raised from the club’s Christmas draw.

Funds have also been boosted by the Buy-A-Brick scheme, with more than £1,300 raised so far.

The club hopes to open up the new facilities to the community.

Club chairman Gareth Dando said: “It’s all about getting involved and we want the new facilities to be used by everyone.”

Work on the facilities could start as early as May and the project could be completed in the autumn - if fundraising targets are met.
