Fire destroys football club facility

POLICE are appealing for information after a fire destroyed a football club’s kitchen in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The unit at Upton United’s sports field, on Waggon Lane, was destroyed, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Two boys, aged 13 and 15, have been arrested and a full police investigation is underway, police said.

Firefighters from South Elmsall put out the flames around 1am.

Anyone who has information about the incident should contact the South East neighbourhood policing team on 101 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
