Don’t lose your vote
Residents are being urged to make sure they have the right to vote in this year’s election.
Wakefield Council is asking people to ensure they are registered if they want to have their say when a third of the district’s councillors go up for election on May 3.
There will also be a mayoral referendum to decide whether the district has an elected mayor.
Residents who applied for a postal vote more than five years ago will have to renew their sample signatures.
Joanne Roney, the council’s electoral registration officer, said: “It is vital that our register is as accurate and up to date as possible and we are asking residents to help us with this by making sure they are registered to vote so their names stay on the register in years to come.”
Anyone who is not registered or has recently moved should e-mail elections@wakefield.gov.uk or call 01924 305023.
