Departing chief praises community

THE top cop in the Express area has moved on to pastures new, but says he is endebted to the residents here.

Insp Tim Boswell, who was in charge of the southeast neighbourhood police team, has taken up a new role at Wakefield and was replaced by Insp Jackie Turton on Monday.

Insp Boswell said: “I know Jackie will be a real asset to the area. I have seen to it that my handover has been well planned and positive. As a result I do not expect there to be any disruption to NPT policing in the area. I will continue to support Jackie as much as is needed.

“It has been a real privilege to work in this area because of three things. Firstly the team of officers here are the most hardworking and committed I’ve ever worked with. Secondly the partnerships in the area are very strong, based on dedicated and caring professionals. Finally the community wants to work together and is committed to making a difference.

“It is this potent combination that has made my role here meaningful and productive and I am deeply endebted to you all.

Insp Boswell urged people to continue to report issues at PACT meetings, street briefings, community contact points, by e-mail and telephone to the team.

And he reminded residents they can pop into the South Kirkby station for a chat, with the help desk open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
