NEW and improved cycle routes could be created throughout the district in an overhaul of facilities
Wakefield Council has encouraged cyclists to have their say on its draft cycle strategy proposals.
Coun Denise Jeffery, deputy leader of the council with responsibility for regeneration and economic growth, said cycling played a key part in the district’s regeneration plans.
She said: “With new housing developments coming forward, the district is continuing to expand and we need an improved and expanded cycle route network as a key element of our local transport plans.
“We want the cycling public to look at the draft strategy and give us their comments because the final document will be influential in shaping our wider plans for the district and how we spend our money on maintaining routes across the district.”
People have until Monday, September 24 to give their comments.
For more information about the draft strategy visit www.wakefield.gov.uk/cycle or call 01924 306080.
Comments can be e-mailed to tbrewer@wakefield.gov.uk.
