Community spirit
A community group set up in the last nine months, the Hemsworth and South Hiendley Community Spirit Group. They are planning a Hemsworth gala for the first time in 20 years.
A GROUP that started on Facebook will host the first Hemsworth Gala for 20 years.
The Hemsworth and South Hiendley Community Spirit Group was set up last year.
Next year they will organise a gala in Hemsworth and have called for residents and businesses to get involved.
Helen Richardson, committee member, said: “We set up the group to try and get some community spirit back in the area, and to do a gala would be a good way to get people together because we haven’t had one in Hemsworth for years.”
The group is also hosting a beauty therapy evening to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust at the Miners Institute, in Moorthorpe from 7pm until 10pm on August 10. Tickets cost £2 from An Angel Beside You, on Barnsley Road, Moorthorpe, or call 07950474848 or e-mail hemscomspirit@aol.com.
