Chaplain receives top honour

A MILITARY chaplain from Fitzwilliam has received a top honour for her dedication.

The Rev Edith Dawson, of Kinsley House Crescent, was one of six to be awarded the Lord-Lieutenant Certificate – one of the highest honours in the forces ranking next to the MBE – at an event in Sheffield on Tuesday.

Mrs Dawson has been a voluntary chaplain for the Army Cadet Force across Yorkshire since 2000 and offers pastoral care to cadets and adult instructors, including those who have been ill or hospitalised.

She said: “I am delighted and so proud to accept this award. Chaplains can often feel overlooked, but I have found the Army Cadet Force to be a place of inspiration and have had the pleasure of meeting some amazing cadets, who have achieved great things.

“I am proud to be associated with an organisation that has such a motto of inspiration.”
