Car fires minutes apart

CARS were deliberately set on fire in two incidences just half an hour apart last night.

Firefighters from South Elmsall were first called to Wrangbrook Lane, Upton, were a car parked outside a house had been set alight at 12.36am.

Watch manager Dave Boucher, from South Elmsall Fire Station, said there was damage to the guttering and fixtures of the house, and that the car was destroyed.

While they were dealing with the blaze, firefighters from Pontefract and Adwick were called to nearby Railway Cottages, off the Upton Bypass, where a car and a caravan were on fire.

Crew manager David Kemp said the blaze was also deliberate.

Police are investigating whether the two fires are linked.
