A MAN is set to climb Africa’s highest mountain to raise money for teenagers suffering from cancer.
Ashley Glover, 25, of Marsden Mews, Hemsworth, hopes to raise £4,000 when he climbs 19,000ft up Mount Kilimanjaro.
So far, he has raised £1,350 for the Teenage Cancer Charity, which supports youngsters suffering with the disease and their families.
Mr Glover is the manager of JS Care Ltd home in Kinsley which caters for people with autism.
He said: “I chose the charity because I was really impressed with them and all the work they do.”
The father-of-one has previously climbed Mount Sinai in Egypt and done a number of skydives.
He said: “I’m really excited but I’m apprehensive because people I’ve spoken to who have done it before have warned me not to take it lightly, so I need to make sure my body is prepared.”
Mr Glover thanked the Kinsley Greyhound Stadium, JS Care Ltd and Tingeys Taxi company in Hemsworth for donations, and Hemsworth Sports Centre for discounted membership which is helping him train.
To sponsor him visit www.justgiving.com/Ashley-Glover01 or text GLOV99 with the donation amount to 70070.
