Boxer takes on champion

editorial image

A LOCAL boxer took on former world title holder Nigel Benn to raise £2,000 for charity.

Hemsworth man David Radford was no stranger to the ring after a match against another world champion Roberto Duran several years ago – but this time it was a game to make money for a number of charities.

More than 300 people came to witness the match between Mr Radford and Mr Benn, or more commonly known in the boxing world as The Dark Destroyer.

They endured three rounds in the ring at MDC Sports Stadium in Fitzwilliam on September 16.
