Bid to boost markets

TRADERS are being offered the chance to sell at local markets for £10 as part of a new scheme.

The Love Your Local Market campaign has been backed by Wakefield Council which is giving new or existing traders the chance to stand on markets in the district for £10.

Coun David Dagger, cabinet member markets, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has ever thought they might like to be a market trader. It is a `no strings` chance to try out trading to see if it is right for you.”

It runs at South Elmsall market on Friday, July 6. The national campaign runs from June 23 to July 6 and was introduced following the Mary Portas report which highlighted the importance of markets in the regeneration of town and city centres.
