Wakefield Talking Newspaper goes digital

Wakefield Talking Newspaper (WTN) is now available on a memory stick.

WTN has now replaced audio tapes and CDs in favour of a memory stick and an easy to use boombox.

The charity, which is run by volunteers, has recorded our sister paper, the Wakefield Express, each week for more than 30 years. The audio is sent out free of charge to listeners who are registered as blind or partially-sighted.

The charity made the format switch after receiving funding from Wakefield and District Hospitals Contributory Scheme Limited, Sitlington and Wakefield District Round Tables and annual donations from The Spooner and Brotherton Trusts.

WTN would like to thank them publicly for their generosity.

The weekly recording of the Wakefield Express is now on a memory stick, which is posted out each week. This memory stick simply plugs into the boombox and the Wakefield Express and magazines are ready to listen to.

To receive the service call the charity on 01924 201000.
