And here is your guide to today’s summer fun across the district.

Tuesday August 12

4 and 20 blackbirds: stories, songs, nursery rhymes and activities from 10.15 am until 11.30am and from 1.30pm until 2.45pm at Pontefract Castle (children aged two to five, booking needed)

Craft session from 1pm until 4pm at Nostell Priory

Make bunting and musical instruments at the National Coal Mining Museum

Speed drawing from 11am until 4pm at The Hepworth Wakefield

Revolting recipes cooking course from 10am until 11.30am at Ossett Library (children aged eight and above, booking needed)

Under five story time from 10.15am until 11am at South Elmsall Library and from 1.30pm until 2.30pm at Wakefield Library

Mythical maze craft activities from 4pm until 5pm at Hemsworth Library and from 10am until 11am at Pontefract Library (children aged five to 11, booking needed)

Sports taster sessions from 2pm until 4pm at Stanley Library (children aged five to 12)

Summer play scheme from 9.30am until 3.30pm every week day at SESKU Academy, Burntwood Community Centre, South Kirkby (children aged eight to 13)

Children’s corner with books, colouring, games, dressing up and the labyrinth from 9am until 4pm at Wakefield Cathedral

Pet workshop at 2pm at Pets at Home Wakefield
