Locally produced fruits and flowers will be on sale at Hemsworth Market as part of a college project.
Students from Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy’s plant club will be running a stall at the town’s market from 9am to 11.30am on Saturday, May 17. It is part of an initiative where students prepare and sell the produce, with funds raised on the stall reinvested back into the gardening club.
Hemsworth Town Council has allowed the club to run the stall free of charge for the second time.
The market venture started in April and it is hoped it will become a sustainable project.
Jack Radford, student liaison officer at the academy, said: “We have students who have been working really hard after school to get all the plants and produce ready to sell on the market.”
