The school bell rang for the final time for Northfield Primary School office manager Karen Hatton who has retired.
Youngsters at the South Kirkby school presented her with gifts, flowers and cards at a special assembly last week.
Mrs Hatton, who started work at the school in September 1996, said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time at the school and will miss everyone.”
“It’s been very diverse. “Every day is different that’s the delight of the job and the children make everything worthwhile.”
Mrs Hatton now hopes to spend more time with her family, including her nine-month-old grandson.
Liz Bradley, the school’s headteacher has worked with Mrs Hatton for nine years.
She said: “Karen has been instrumental to the school during her time here.
“She’s been my right-hand man. She deals with everything from irate parents to children on their first day.
“She has been part of the fabric of the school for some time and is excellent at her job.”
Mrs Bradley added: “Karen is going to be sadly missed.
“The children love her she has always got time for them and will do anything for them.
“The office will be a different place without Karen and I think it will take some time to get used to life without her.”
