SLIDESHOW: Meeting the Romans

Waiting for Video...

Youngsters got the chance to meet the Romans at an event organised by Wakefield Council’s libraries services.

The event featured exhibitions on Roman history, artefacts and gave children the chance to try on some costumes for themselves. It was held at Castleford Forum Library and Museum.

Coun David Dagger, cabinet member for culture, sport and libraries, said: “I’m delighted that the Roman day event at Castleford Forum Library and Museum was such a huge success, with many families attending.

“Local children were able to learn about the area’s Roman heritage by having a Roman hairstyle makeover and seeing first hand real Roman metal objects and learning how they were used.

“I hope the event has introduced even more people to what the Castleford Forum has to offer.”
