A trio of ex-soldiers are planning to walk along Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for the Royal British Legion’s (RBL) poppy appeal.

Jason Downing, South Elmsall RBL branch chairman, Scott Sherwood, vice-chairman and Gareth Mitchell, will be trekking 84.5 miles next weekend.

The Walking for Poppies challenge – which aims to raise more than £2,000 – was officially launched last weekend at the RBL branch’s World War One centenary event.
