SLIDESHOW: A day at the beach in Wakefield city centre
When you think of sandy beaches, donkey rides and flip-flops, you may not think Wakefield, but last weekend, the Cathedral precinct was transformed into a coastal resort when Seaside in the City returned.
Families took along buckets and spades and enjoyed a sandy beach.
Other attractions included donkey rides, face painting, balloon modelling, workshops, Punch and Judy shows and stalls while stilt-walking lobsters and walkabout pirates were on hand to offer even more coastal-themed entertainment.
