Record runners raise big sum for charity

A record 150 competitors took part in the Great Kinsley Run last weekend to raise cash for the Lymphoma Association .

The second annual event raised £1,700 for the charity and the amount will be matched by HR company Towers Watson, taking the grand total to £3,400.

Joe Clarke was the male winner of the 10k, completng the course in 38mins 36 secs. He also won last year.

The female 10k winner was Katie Homson who crossed the line in 49 mins 25 secs.

The 5k fun run winner was Shaun Middleton.

Julie Ritchie, event organiser, said: “It was a fantastic day, everyone really enjoyed it and it was great seeing such a big turnout of runners, walkers, children and spectators.

“Thank you to everyone who made it possible especially the Kinsley Hotel, Premier Quality Foods, Brakes and The Ice Co and Shaun Morgan.

“Also thanks to Deborah’s Strike Academy for their volunteers who marshalled and did a brilliant job.”
