Pupils at Stockingate Mill Junior School in South Kirkby are celebrating sporting triumphs in football and cross country.
The school’s year six football team competed in the Npower Schools Football League, coming first in the Five Towns area and second overall in the Barnsley region.
They are also currently leading the mini-league tournament in their area.
The school’s cross country team won the Five Towns Cross Country Competition, which meant they were chosen to represent the district in the Jet2Holidays West Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Final at Leeds Metropolitan University last month.
At the competition, Stockingate pupil Kieren Flavell was crowned year five West Yorkshire School Games Cross Country champion. The other athletes representing the school, Megan Kirk, Mackenzie Harrison and Libby Clarke, also did well placing fifth, 41st and 72nd out of 100 youngsters.
Samantha Wassell, school PE co-ordinator, said: “As a school we pride ourselves on being able to offer these amazing opportunities to our children. All the children who compete in sports and represent our school deserve the success they get. They all work very hard and do our school proud when representing us.”
