“I was a teacher for almost forty years, before retiring from the classroom in 2006.

“I have recently finished a tale for adults based loosely in reality, that traces the fortunes of the Ingles family in the West Riding coal fields around Wakefield from the mid-1940s.

“It’s called “Jack the Lad”, the first volume follows Jack Ingles as he grows up in a difficult environment, which proves to be all-too common in the area in which he lives.

“Within the mining community in general and within this family in particular, conflict is an everyday fact of life that Jack has to live and deal with in his push towards an independence of his own choosing.”
