A group which is working on improvements to Pontefract Park has marked its second anniversary by designing a new logo.
The Friends of Pontefract Park logo is based on the new entrance sign at the park.
The group was set up in 2012 to try to improve the site and so far the driveway leading to Pontefract Racecourse has been resurfaced, extra parking spaces installed and flowers have been planted at the Park Road entrance .
Jack Kershaw, group chairman, said: “We’ve had some really good comments from the public about the improvements that have been done.
“I get people stopping me in town, telling me how good the park is looking.
“We get a lot of people telling us that the park looks better but we realise that there is still plenty of work to be done.
“It’s such a great sight to see all the flowers and daffodils at the site entrance.
“They really make the park look attractive and were worth every penny.”
The group has also applied for funding to replace two children’s slides which were stolen in December.
The group’s next meeting in on Wednesday, April 30 at 6.30pm at NEW College, on Park Lane.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
