Hemsworth MP Jon Trickett has joined the shadow cabinet as part of Labour leader Ed Miliband’s reshuffle ahead of the 2015 general election.
Mr Trickett, who has been the Hemsworth MP for more than 17 years, also becomes the party’s deputy chairman and shadow minister without portfolio.
He previously served as the parliamentary private secretary to the then prime minister Gordon Brown from 2008 to 2010 and was promoted to Ed Miliband’s shadow cabinet in 2011 as shadow minister for the cabinet office.
Mr Trickett said on Twitter: “I am delighted to be deputy chair of the Labour Party and shadow minister without portfolio. Lots of hard work ahead.”
