Firefighters from South Elmsall and Hemsworth were called to a road accident on Doncaster Road in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

Two cars had been involved in a collision close to the Skelbrook turn off on the A638. Two people were trapped in one of the vehicles, which had landed on its side, but paramedics managed to help them out once they were checked over.

Firefighters from Adwick and the police also attended the scene.

A spokesman from South Elmsall Fire Station said: “One passenger had managed to get out but two were still trapped in the car. As we were preparing the equipment to cut them free, paramedics managed to coax them out - they were shook up from the car landing on its side but once they had the all-clear they managed to stand up and climb out themselves.

“Nobody was badly injured - one had a nasty bump but they were all very fortunate to say the car had landed on its side.”
