It’s time to put the kettle on and tuck into some tasty treats all in aid of charity.
MacMillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning takes place next Friday, September 28, with events being held across the district.
And with no fewer than 60 events in the area, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Last year saw more than £2,500 raised from 17 events across the area.
But that total looks set to be smashed with people getting together for a brew throughout the area.
Maria Amos, fundraising manager for the Wakefield district said: “Your readers always get behind this event and we could not continue to provide much needed services without them.”
Last year’s event saw £53,592 raised across the Wakefield district.
Mrs Amos said: “Last year we raised £2,644.85 across the Hemsworth and South Elmsall area from just 17 events, so you can only imagine how excited I am by the fact that this year, to date, we have 60 events registered.
“I can’t wait to watch this space.”
Among the many coffee mornings being held across the area, there is one at Hemsworth Community Centre starting at 10am.
There is also one at Hemsworth Park Care Home, on Wakefield Road, between 9.30am and 12pm.
Now entering its 22nd year, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised a record £10m nationwide last year.
And organisers are hoping to raise as much as £10.8m this time around.
