Dedicated members of Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy Fitness Centre have raised more than £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The nine-strong team raised £2,201.46 by taking part in Yorkshire Warrior, a 10 mile obstacle course race in Harrogate.

Craig Houghton, fitness instructor, said: “The amount we raised is fantastic. It was a huge team effort and I am so proud of everyone who took part.”

The group is now planning to take part in other events to raise cash for local organisations and health- related charities.

Mr Houghton added: “We have already signed up to take part in the Major Series obstacle course in October.

“We hope to raise even more money and continue to support charities.”

“Anyone is welcome to join us and take part.”

The Yorkshire Warrior race included obstacles such as ice-cold rivers, underground running, muddy climbs, jumping over fire and cargo nets.
