Youngsters at Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy are putting the final touches to a new musical they are staging next week.

The college’s production Top Wrench is an original musical based on the 1980s hit film Top Gun.

Featuring some of the music from the film as well as original songs, Top Wrench tells the story of a young female air force mechanic who gets her shot at being best in the world as she attempts to win the coveted Top Wrench trophy.

It follows her through the competition against other hopeful mechanics.

The show is staged on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday April 8, 9 and 10, doors open at 6.45pm and the show starts at 7pm.

Tickets are available from student services at the school, and are priced £8 for a family (two adults and two chilfren), £3 for adults and £2 for concessions.

For more information on the production visit the school’s website at www.hemsworth.wakefield.sch.uk or to book tickets call 01977 624220.
