Driver freed after car flipped on its roof in crash

A driver became trapped in his car after it flipped onto its roof following a collision with another vehicle.

Police were called to the junction of Batley Road and Park Mill Lane in Kirkhamgate, Wakefield, after a Vauxhall Corsa and Range Rover collided at about 11.17pm on Tuesday.

The collision caused the Corsa to flip onto its roof and left the driver, a man in his 30s, trapped inside.

Firefighters from Ossett attended the scene and the driver was freed by 11.41pm.

Police said he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Range Rover, a man in his 50s, sustained a slight injury.

The road was blocked after the crash and a closure was in place which was lifted at 2.42am.
