PEGAH MOULANA FROM NEW COLLEGE HAS WON A DIVERSITY AWARD

A Pontefract NEW College student has won a Young Champion award for helping to promote equality and diversity for youth in the area.

Pegah Moulana won the prize at the Inspiring Change Award ceremony in Barnsley.

Miss Moulana, who studies government and politics at the sixth form college said: “I have always been passionate about representing equality and diversity, from an early age.

“After working towards improving the education system for black ethnic minorities in this country, winning this award helped me to achieve my aim of equality.”

The awards were part of a celebration for International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Gender Equality Forum.

Nell Stockton who chaired the event, said: “The Inspiring Change Awards day was a fantastic day celebrating the achievements of women and looking at how our town can become a place where women and men can break free of old attitudes about what they can and cannot do.”
