School students celebrated World Cup fever with a colourful carnival to showcase their talents.
Five primary schools from the South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Upton area and Minsthorpe College collaborated to produce a community showcase with carnival performances inspired by the world cup.
Moorthorpe Primary School showed off their samba dancing, Stockingate Mill Junior School performed a football skills dance, pupils from Northfield Primary sang their hearts out, Upton Primary students delivered orchestral performances and Ash Grove performed a rain forest themed dance and drama piece.
The showcase finished with children singing the World Cup Song ‘The World is Ours’.
Carol Connelly, who helped to co-ordinate the carnival, said: “The showcase put on by The Minsthorpe Primary Partnership was absolutely fantastic.
“The children and staff at the schools involved worked very hard collaboratively to put together an evening of world-cup inspired entertainment.
“We are proud of all the hard work and talent across the community.”
