A driver was trapped after a telegraph pole carrying high voltage power lines was toppled in South Hiendley.
Firefighters and paramedics were called after a Nissan Duke collided with a telegraph pole on Tun Lane at 7.56pm last night (Friday).
Crews from South Elmsall and Hemsworth went to the scene.
A fire service spokesman said: “A female casualty was extricated by crews and the ambulance service. We used cutting equipment.
“Police called the National Grid. They had to cut and isolate the power.”
The spokesman believed the operator was able to bypass the problem and keep power on to local homes.
