South Kirkby’s Langthwaite Business Park has been given a spring clean.

Businesses and representatives of Wakefield Council and South Kirkby and Moorthorpe Town Council took part in pride in the park day, organised by Langthwaite Business Association.

A group of local authority employees and volunteers cut long grass, overgrown trees and picked up litter in soaring temperatures.

Malcolm Dufton, chairman of Langthwaite Business Association, said: “We almost melted but we have had a really successful day thanks to the volunteers from all the companies and organisations who took part.

“The pulling together of the businesses, Wakefield Council, South Kirkby and Moorthorpe Town Council and the board of the LBA achieved some great results that everyone can be proud of.”

Coun Laurie Harrison, leader of South Kirkby and Moorthorpe Town Council, said: “The park is a key employer in our town and the council is very pleased to assist in making the day such a success.”
