A mum-of-five who had her head shaved in front of a pub full of drinkers has raised over £500 for charity.
Kay Warren, 52, underwent a full cut at the Malt Shovel Pub in Drighlington for their charity fundraiser last weekend.
Kay agreed to the shave to increase the awareness of the stigma attached to female cancer patients losing their hair after chemotherapy.
And though justifiably proud of her achievement, she has certainly been feeling the downside of the cooler temperatures this week.
She said: “It feels cold now that I’ve shaved it off.
“One thing I’ve learnt from it is that apparently it suits me and I’ve got a nicely shaped head - that’s what people have been telling me since it was done!”
Kay, who is a private tutor, said that she has kept the hair and is still looking round the house for a suitable storage space for it, and joked that her new look had been a source of banter with her partner.
“He’s bald and said: “At least you know how I feel!”
