Youngsters from across the district ripped up the stage when they battled it out in this year’s Future Stars talent contest.

Acts from Hemsworth Arts and Community Academy and Minsthorpe Community College competed in the event arranged by the South East neighbourhood policing team (NPT) last week.

PC Simon Newton, who helped organise the event, said: “It was a very good night and the judges had a really hard task to pick the winners.

“Everybody who competed was a winner though. The acts were of a really good standard.”

Ten acts had come through qualification heats to earn the right to compete in the event.

Minsthorpe triumphed on the day. Singer Megan Clamp, 16, was crowned the winner. Guitarist Tyler Baker came second and dancer Libby Griffiths finished third.
