THE CHRISTMAS lights will be switched on in Hemsworth on Thursday, November 29.
The event will kick off at 10am with carol singing by Kinsley J&I School and will be followed by St Helen’s J&I School at 10.30am, Hemsworth Churches Together from 11am, Hemsworth Arts and Community College 12.15pm, Grove Lea Primary School at 1pm, Sacred Heart Catholic School at 2pm and West End Primary School at 2.30pm.
A Castle and Cathedral Radio roadshow will start at 4pm and the lights will be switched on at 6pm.
There will also be a Christmas-themed market throughout the day, a craft fair in the Community Centre between 5pm and 9pm and South Kirkby singers will also be performing in the centre at 7pm.
The event has been sponsored by Hemsworth Town Council with assistance from Iceland, Home Bargains and Wakefield Council.
