YOUNG people hopped, skipped and jumped their way to a good time at a college sports day.
The year seven and year eight students, from Hemsworth Arts and Community College, took part in a variety of events, including the high jump, long jump, standing triple jump, shot, discus and the 100, 200 and 400 metre races.
They also enjoyed a number of fun activities, such as the obstacle race, a tug-of-war competition, the three-legged race, an egg and spoon race and the tennis ball and sitting ball throw contest.
The event took place at the Dorothy Hyman Stadium, Cudworth, earlier this month and was organised by PE teacher Laura Quick.
It was a trial for a larger sports day that is planned to tie in with the Olympics 2012.
Stephen Foster, assistant principal, said: “The sports day was very successful. The students were very good and got fully involved in the day.
“The aim is to have an Olympic type event along similar lines for the students next year.”
