A song-writer has released a music video showcasing the very best of the city.

Chris Littlewood's acoustic track Wakefield aims to inspire people to be proud of the area where they come from.

It features the line 'I love this city, it's where I were born'.

Mr Littlewood, who grew up in Ossett, penned the song in 2012 while studying at Huddersfield University.

And so far it has received almost 9,000 views on YouTube.

This week, he has released a video to go with the song.

The song features references to Pinderfields, the Bull Ring and Greggs and Mr Littlewood can be seen outside some of the city's much-loved locations including the start of the Westgate Run, Sandal Castle and the Cathedral.

He told the Express: “My lecturer was a big advocate of singing in your own accent and not being so stereotypical and I agreed with him.

“So I picked up my guitar and thought I would write a song about Wakefield and Ossett.

“I’m quite proud of being from Wakefield and I know that it get’s a bit of a bad reputation. But people who have heard the song have taken to it and I’ve got a lot of positive feedback.”
