A charity which helps other charities in the community has been chosen to receive this month’s Express 100 Community cash fund.

Helping Hands helps other groups in the South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Upton area, by providing them with much-needed cash.

Ashley Vickers, group treasurer, said he and seven others decided to set up the charity in May.

He said: “We felt there wasn’t anything for people in the South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Upton area, so we hold fundraising events o raise cash that we then pass on to other groups.

“The money we raise is kept within the community.”

Groups can apply for cash via Helping Hands’ website.

Mr Vickers said he was really pleased the group had been awarded the cash.

He added: “It’s fantastic news and the money will go to helping so many people in the area.”

Visit www.helpinghands.uk.com to get in contact with the charity.

The Express, which has teamed up with Asda XDC at Elmsall Way, South Elmsall, is giving away £100 every month this year as part of our centenary celebrations.
