New sperm bank seeks donors

Yorkshiremen will be able to help couples to start a family after a pioneering sperm donation clinic announced it will open.

Semovo’s site at Thorpe Park, near Garforth, will accept donors from early 2017, and staff are keen to recruit local men.

Many of their clients have expressed an interest in insemination from UK donors and even those from their local area rather than overseas banks.

Healthy men aged 18-41 can donate, and are paid £35 in expenses each time they make the trip to drop off their sperm.

Only donors with the highest chances of ensuring a conception are accepted onto the ‘gold standard’ clinic’s programme, and men have access to a personal support and counselling team.

Clients at the company include single women, same-sex couples and men with low sperm counts who are all desperate to have a baby.

Semovo can ensure that donor-conceived children can trace their biological father when they reach 18 if they request to - a service currently not provided in continental Europe.

Donors are also profiled in detail, and clients can learn about their interests and read personal goodwill messages and pen portraits provided by men on the programme.

Potential donors can find out more about the process and apply online at www.semovo.co.uk/apply-online or call the team for a confidential chat on 0345 266 1272 or email [email protected].
