Hemsworth MW looked back on a memorable season when they handed out their player of the year awards.
The runaway winners of Division One of the Toolstation NCE League enjoyed their most successful season in their 35-year history.
As well as winning the championship by a 12-point margin they gained promotion for the first time since joining the NCE League in 2008 and enjoyed a good run in the FA Vase, beating Cammel Laird 1907, Bacup Borough and, most memorably, West Auckland Town.
Against that historic backdrop it was an enjoyable presentation event held at the Hemsworth club.
Manager Wayne Benn chose Billy Law as his player of the season after his goal haul played a big part in the success. The striker ended the campaign as top scorer with 27 goals in all competition and was the division’s third highest scorer.
Harry Viggars won the supporters player of the year and doubled up as he also scooped the players’ player of the year award.
